CHANGE IN THE TRAFFIC ORGANISATION ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKÓW MOTORWAY IN THE AREA OF THE BRZĘCZKOWICE AND THE MYSŁOWICE JUNCTIONS - WASHOUT OF THE ROAD EMBANKMENT SLOPE

12 09 2017 #Press information

One lane of the carriageway in the direction of Katowice between the Brzęczkowice and Mysłowice junctions is closed on a one-kilometre stretch due to the washout of the slope of the road embankment from today, i.e. Tuesday, 12 September, onwards. Traffic in this area will move on only one lane with a speed limit of 80 km/h until further notice.

As a result of heavy rainfall that took place in the morning on 12 September, the slope of the embankment of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway after the Brzęczkowice junction in the direction of Katowice (348+700 km) was washed out. To ensure the safety of drivers, the concessionaire decided to close one lane on a one-kilometre stretch.

'At the moment technical services are protecting the slope against further erosion and assessing the scale of this destruction. We will make every effort to reduce the effects of the washout and open the lane that has been closed to traffic,' says Marta Dobrzańska from the Press Office of SAM SA.

Only one lane with a speed limit of 80 km/h will be open in this area until further notice.

About Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. (SAM S.A.)

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. It is the first fully functional road of this kind in Poland, built within the framework of public-private partnership as a brownfield investment – modernisation of the road built in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. has held the concession for its adaptation to the requirements of a toll motorway and operation since 1997. Meeting the concession obligations has required numerous investments. All investment projects, including current maintenance of the road, are financed from tolls for using the concession stretch and from loans obtained from an international bank consortium. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
