CHANGES IN TRAFFIC ORGANISATION DUE TO THE MYSLOWICE JUNCTION EXTENSION ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKOW
From 9 September construction works have been carried out on the extension of the Mysłowice Junction situated in the Silesian part of the A4 Katowice-Krakow motorway. This investment will make it possible to connect two southern districts of Myslowice with the A4 in both directions. Due to the construction works, changes in temporary traffic organisation will be introduced for the period of 30 September to mid December 2015.
From Wednesday (30 September) the Myslowice-Katowice connecting road will be closed. Drivers going from the centre of Myslowice towards Katowice will be guided through a detour to the Brzęczkowice junction. Drivers going in the direction of Katowice will enter the A4 through the Mysłowice junction in the direction of Krakow and after about 3 km exit the Brzęczkowice junction to S1/E75 (the direction of Łódź/Warszawa), and then again back to the A4 in the Katowice direction.
Moreover, at ul. Obrzeżna Zachodnia the roadway will be narrowed to one lane in both directions. Because the western roadway will be closed, drivers going from the centre of Mysłowice will be directed to the opposite roadway (eastern).
Until the night of 29 September preparatory works connected with the introduction of changes in traffic organisation will be carried out. They will mainly consist in removing the narrowing of the Krakow-Mysłowice connecting road and narrowing the eastern roadway of ul. Obrzeżna Zachodnia.
Temporary traffic organisation on the A4 Katowice-Krakow near the Mysłowice Junction (km 346 + 859) will not change. On roadways to Katowice and to Krakow, on a stretch of about 2.4 km, left (faster) lanes will remain closed. In this area traffic will continue on narrowed lanes (the right lane and the emergency lane) with the speed limit of 80 km/h. Traffic will probably be organised in this way until mid November 2015.
Construction works on the extension of the Mysłowice junction will last until the third quarter of 2016. When they are finished, traffic in all directions will be possible on the Myslowice Junction. The cost of the investment is PLN 14.4 million (excl. tax).
Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. provides up to date information for drivers on changes in traffic organisation on their website (www.autostrada-a4.pl) and on Twitter (www.twitter.com/A4KatKra). All construction works on the Mysłowice Junction extension will be carried out in such a way as to make their impact on motorway users as low as possible.
