DKV FUEL CARDS ACCEPTED ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKOW

18 01 2016 #Press information

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. (SAM S.A.) is steadily increasing the number of fleet and fuel cards that may be used to pay for using the concession stretch of the A4 Katowice-Krakow. From 11 a.m. today, drivers going through toll plazas in Myslowice and Balice may make payments with DKV fuel cards. Motorway toll gates and filling stations also accept PKN Orlen, Routex, UTA, and euroShell fleet and fuel cards.

DKV cards are accepted on toll sections of Polish roads: on the A1, A2 and A4 motorways and on selected sections of roads of the viaTOLL system. They are accepted by almost 4000 filling stations in Poland, including PKN Orlen, Shell, Statoil, Jet, BP and Lotos as well as repair shops, including MAN, Scania, Volvo and Renault. DKV offers a wide range of services added to a fleet card, like the refund of VAT, online tools, purchases on filling stations or transport services counselling.

Fleet and fuel cards have been used on gates of the A4 Katowice-Krakow from the beginning of February last year. On toll plazas in Myslowice and Balice drivers can currently pay with DKV, euroShell, PKN Orlen (Flota and Open Drive), UTA, as well as Routex cards. EuroShell cards are accepted on its filling stations, like Orlen cards (stations located in Rest Areas along the concession stretch of the A4), that additionally make possible payments at Bliska stations. Routex cards are accepted at Aral, BP, Eni and Statoil stations. UTA cards can be used in Poland on stations of all fuel companies: Shell, Statoil, BP, Lukoil, Lotos, Moya, Optima, Orlen, Bliska and Arge.

– Currently about 14% of transactions on the gates are made with fuel and fleet cards. These payment methods are more popular among drivers of cars than lorries. Green light for DKV cards will probably increase this proportion, particularly because it is a more comfortable method of payment for using the motorway than cash – says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.

The possibility of paying with fleet and fuel cards is the effect of the replacement of toll collection devices that is part of a comprehensive program of increasing toll plaza capacity implemented by SAM S.A. At the beginning of January electronic, cashless payments with the proximity KartA4 card were introduced. This card is particularly dedicated to drivers who regularly travel on this concession stretch as it replaced the subscription coupons functioning so far.

About Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. (SAM S.A.)

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. It is the first fully functional road of this kind in Poland, built within the framework of public-private partnership as a brownfield investment – modernisation of the road built in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. has held the concession for its adaptation to the requirements of a toll motorway and operation since 1997. Meeting the concession obligations has required numerous investments. All investment projects, including current maintenance of the road, are financed from tolls for using the concession stretch and from loans obtained from an international bank consortium. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
