NEW TOLL RATES for A4 KATOWICE-CRACOW MOTORWAY FOR CATEGORY 2, 3, 4 AND 5 VEHICLES FROM 1st MARCH. THE HOLDERS OF A4Go CARDS CAN TRAVEL CHEAPER FOR TWO YEARS

From 1^st March 2017 toll rates for the A-4 Katowice-Cracow motorway will change for category 2, 3, 4 and 5 vehicles. After introducing new rates the drivers of category 2 and 3 vehicles will pay PLN 18.00 at each toll plaza and drivers of category 4 and 5  vehicles will be charged PLN 30.00. Despite the rise in the toll price, the holders of A4Go and kartA4 proximity cards, on the basis of impulses purchased until the end of February, may drive on the motorway for two consecutive years according to lower toll rates.

Toll rates for the A-4 Katowice-Cracow motorway for 2, 3, 4 and 5 category vehicles were last changed two years ago. From 1^st March toll in the amount of PLN 30.00 will be paid at each toll plaza. Simultaneously, in case of category 2 and 3 vehicles, the value of discount shall be increased from the currently binding value of PLN 10.00 to the value of PLN 12.00, as a result of which the total toll rate will amount to PLN 18.00 at each toll plaza. Toll for  category 1 vehicles and the discount for motorcycles shall remain constant at the existing levels.

- As essential outlays are needed for the maintenance of the motorway and investments also have to take into consideration works which are not foreseen in the concession agreement, the change of the toll rates is justified. It is worth remembering that drivers may use the A4 Katowice-Cracow motorway according to contemporary rates, purchasing a suitable number of impulses needed for the planned travel within the A4Go electronic toll collection system. Impulses purchased until the end of February are valid for two years from the moment of the account recharge, says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesman of Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.

The toll for the A-4 Katowice-Cracow motorway for vehicles of all categories from 1^st March 2017 shall, at each of the two toll plazas, amount to:

• PLN 5.00– category 1 vehicles: motorcycles
• PLN 10.00– category 1 vehicles: two-axle road vehicles,
• PLN 18.00– category 2 vehicles: two-axle road vehicles of which at least one is equipped with a twin wheel and two-axle road vehicles with trailers,
• PLN 18.00– category 3 vehicles: three-axle road vehicles and two-axle road vehicles of which at least one is equipped with a twin wheel with trailers,
• PLN 30.00– category 4 and 5 vehicles: road vehicles with more than three axles, three-axle road vehicles with trailers and road vehicles with more than three axles with trailers and oversize vehicles.

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. It is the first fully functional road of this kind in Poland, built within the framework of public-private partnership as a brownfield investment – modernisation of the road built in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. has held the concession for its adaptation to the requirements of a toll motorway and operation since 1997. Meeting the concession obligations has required numerous investments. All investment projects, including current maintenance of the road, are financed from tolls for using the concession stretch and from loans obtained from an international bank consortium. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
