NEW VIDEO TOLLING OPERATOR ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKÓW MOTORWAY. YOU CAN NOW PAY FOR YOUR TRAVEL USING THE IKO APPLICATION OF PKO BP
The concessionaire of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway develops the video tolling system and offers another application for automatic payments for travelling using this section. From today, i.e. 18 February 2021, it is possible to pay at the toll gates using the IKO application of PKO Bank Polski. Owing to automatic payment methods, travelling is cheaper by over 30% and, above all else, safer during the pandemics.
The instant payment system based on the identification of the vehicle registration number, the so-called video tolling, has been operating on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway since July 2019. Initially, it worked in conjunction with the Autopay application, but last July, it was extended to include the SkyCash application. It has enabled drivers both to travel through toll plazas faster and more conveniently and to reduce travel costs. Right now, video tolling users may pay tolls lower by even more than 30% at each gate . During peak hours, transactions made using the application already represent more than 30% of all transactions.
By introducing a new operator, Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. aims to get more drivers interested in making automatic payments for using the motorway - currently, over 5 million IKO applications are used. To be able to make automatic payments at the A4 Katowice-Kraków toll gates, all IKO users have to do is to add their vehicle data in the "Motorway Tolls" function and connect their accounts or cards for payment purposes. One user can add several cars and several payment methods. Drivers can also use other services available in the IKO application, such as parking fees, third party liability/comprehensive insurance, or, for example, fine payment transfers.
'The video tolling system we are developing is in line with the growing interest in mobile applications, conveniently operated using a smartphone and accompanying us almost everywhere. Using the mobile banking services provided by PKO Bank Polski, we do not have to install any additional application to drive through motorway gates, the option of paying tolls is "in the package", in addition to many other possibilities offered by the IKO banking application,' says Rafał Czechowski, spokesman of SAM S.A. He adds that 'with each subsequent application supported by the video tolling system, we expand the group of people who make automatic payments at the gates automatically, which in turn translates into a gradual increase in the capacity of toll plazas, convenience, comfort and safety of drivers.'
Drivers of category 1-5 vehicles, except for motorcycles, can use the IKO application, just as in the case of the Autopay and SkyCash applications. You do not need to be logged into the IKO application or have your phone with you at the toll plaza. When you arrive at the Mysłowice or Balice toll plaza, choose the gate marked with a black camera against a yellow background. For the video tolling users there are three gates in each direction: the first two on the left and one on the right. The leftmost orange toll gate is dedicated exclusively to automatic payments made with the use of IKO, SkyCash, Autopay applications, and A4Go and Telepass electronic toll collection systems. The video tolling devices installed at the gates recognise the vehicle licence plate and open them automatically. Drivers are not involved in the process of paying tolls, which makes their passage much faster. They don't need to open their window, hand the cash or a card to the collector and take the change and the receipt - it is the safest way to pay motorway tolls during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The IKO application can also be used to pay tolls for the A1 motorway.

Information about SAM SA

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. obtained a license for its adaptation to the requirements of the toll motorway and operation in 1997. It required numerous investments. All investment projects and current maintenance of road lanes are funded from revenues obtained from the collection of tolls for the concession section and loans received from the international banking consortium. Unlike other concessions for the management of toll motorways, the project implemented by Stalexport Autostrada S. A. does not burden the State Treasury with any obligations. Moreover, it has not received any grants or guarantees of the Treasury.
