RENOVATION OF THE BALIN JUNCTION ON A4 KATOWICE-KRAKÓW MOTORWAY BEGINS
On Monday, 12 March this year on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway, a comprehensive renovation of the Balin ijunction will begin. During works, which are expected to last approx. five months, individual slip roads of the interchange will be closed, and diversions will be put into operation. Half closures of subsequent parts of Balińska street, where alternating traffic will be carried out with the use of traffic lights, are also planned.
Renovation works at the Balin junction at the 369th kilometer of the concession section of the Katowice-Kraków A4 motorway will include the construction of fully new surface on the slip roads and part of Balińska street.
On Monday, 12 March of this year, changes in the traffic on the exit slip road from the A4 motorway to Balińska street along with the narrowing of Balińska street will be introduced. In connection with the works being carried out, the slip road will be closed until mid-April of this year.
From 24 March of this year the exit slip road from Balińska street to the A4 motorway in the direction of Kraków will be closed. Its opening is planned for mid-May of this year.
Then, the following slip roads will be closed: exit slip road from Balińska street to the A4 motorway towards Katowice - from mid-May to the end of June this year and exit slip road from A4 from Kraków to Balińska Street - from the end of May to mid-July this year.
The renovation also provides for the closure of Działkowa Street for around one month (in July-August this year).
At the same time, along with the renovation of the slip road and Działkowa street, Balińska street will be under renovation - its subsequent parts will be closed partially.
'Taking the comfort of traveling around the Balin interchange into account, we do not plan to close Balińska street completely. The alternating traffic will be implemented in this area and it will be regulated by traffic lights. During the closure of individual slip roads of the interchange and Działkowa street, alternative routes are planned to be used, with the use of marked diversions. We would like to ask drivers to pay attention to road signs', says Marta Dobrzańska from the press office of Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.
Works on the Balin junction and difficulties related to them will end in mid-August this year.
Dates of implementation of works may change.
Detailed information on the dates and location of changes in the traffic organization will be published on the website www.ia4.pl, twitter.com/A4KatKra and at the Road Information Points.

Information about SAM SA
Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-km section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway. This is the first fully operational road of this type in Poland, built as part of the public-private partnership, as a brownfield project on the basis of the road constructed in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. obtained a license for its adaptation to the requirements of the toll motorway and operation in 1997. It required numerous investments. All investment projects and current maintenance of road lanes are funded from revenues obtained from the collection of tolls for the concession section and loans received from the international banking consortium. Unlike other concessions for the management of toll motorways, the project implemented by Stalexport Autostrada S. A. does not burden the State Treasury with any obligations. Moreover, it has not received any grants or guarantees of the Treasury.
