STALEXPORT AUTOSTRADA MAŁOPOLSKA S.A. STARTING REPLACEMENT OF TOLL COLLECTION DEVICES IN BALICE
The replacement of toll collection devices is in progress on the A4 Katowice-Krakow. It will make it possible to introduce new payment methods for driving the concession stretch of the motorway. New devices are already being installed on the Toll Plaza in Mysłowice and works in Balice will start tomorrow.
From 13 November works connected with the installation of new toll collection devices on the Balice Toll Plaza will be carried out on two lanes built this year (currently out of service), one in each direction. Due to the location of the planned works, they will not influence traffic flow on the toll plaza and other service points will still be functioning. New toll collection devices will be fitted before 14 December.
For almost two months the two newly built lanes on which the devices will be fitted will be separated from the other lanes with concrete barriers. For the period of fitting the barriers, for safety reasons, neighbouring lanes will be temporarily closed. Because works will be carried out at night, the concessionaire does not predict limiting toll plaza capacity.
All works connected with the project of increasing toll plaza capacity will be carried out in such a way to be the least troublesome for motorway users. Dates or scope of temporary traffic organisation may be subject to slight changes depending on the progress of works.

About SAM S.A.
Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. It is the first fully functional road of this kind in Poland, built within the framework of public-private partnership as a brownfield investment – modernisation of the road built in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. has held the concession for its adaptation to the requirements of a toll motorway and operation since 1997. This required numerous investments. All investment projects, including current maintenance of the road, are financed from tolls for using the concession stretch and from loans obtained from an international bank consortium. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
