STALEXPORT AUTOSTRADA MAŁOPOLSKA SA TO REPLACE SELF-SERVICE GATES WITH CASHIER BOOTHS ON TOLL PLAZAS IN MYSŁOWICE AND BALICE IN ORDER TO MAKE CUSTOMER SERVICE FASTER IN SUMMER MONTHS
In May automatic toll collection devices will disappear from the leftmost gates on the A4 Katowice-Krakow. They will be replaced with toll collectors' booths. Works connected with the change of configuration of the self-service lane into a manual lane will start on 7 May on the toll plaza in Mysłowice.
Self-service lanes were designed to increase toll plaza capacity on the A4 Katowice-Krakow. In practice, however, passage through cashier booths proved to be faster than automatic toll collection. The concessionaire received regular signals about problems with proper use of payment cards and many drivers tried reversing from automatic gates which was dangerous for other motorway users. These were the reasons behind the decision to replace automatic toll collection devices with cashier booths which can serve more vehicles.
– Our priority is the speed of customer service for drivers on the A4 Katowice-Krakow motorway. Therefore, besides launching additional cashier booths, from mid March we have been promoting the fastest payment methods – subscription coupons and kartA4 card – with a 10% discount. Additionally, we are preparing to launch an electronic toll collection system, which will be the most advanced time-saving solution – says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.
Works on the leftmost gates on PPO Mysłowice will continue till 13 May. The change of configuration of the self-service lane into a manual lane planned for 7 days on the toll plaza in Balice will start on 14 May.

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
