TEMPORARY NIGHTTIME CLOSURES OF THE CARRIAGEWAY TOWARDS KRAKÓW ON THE KATOWICE-KRAKÓW SECTION OF A4 MOTORWAY

30 09 2019 #Press information

On the night of 30 September/1 October this year, works related to the adjustment of the gantry before the Balice toll plaza will be carried out. They will be associated with temporary closures of the carriageway towards Kraków, which may be important especially for those who want to travel to Kraków Airport.

This temporary traffic organisation will apply near km 399+500. Temporary closures of the Katowice-Kraków section of A4 motorway, which will take no longer than 15 minutes, will apply to the carriageway towards Kraków. During closures, the passage will be impossible.

"We will make every effort to ensure that the works are carried out smoothly. Yet, if possible, we would advise you to plan your journey when the closures are not expected, especially if you plan to travel to Kraków Airport. Please pay attention to changes in road signs before the place where the works are to be carried out," says Marta Dobrzańska from the Press Office of SAM S.A.

The last phase of resurfacing works is currently carried out on the Katowice-Kraków section of A4 motorway, which involves the 6-kilometre section between the Jeleń junction and the Mysłowice toll plaza. In addition, works related to the widening of entrances to the Balice and Mysłowice toll plazas are performed. In connection with these works, there will be temporary closures of toll plaza lanes at the Balice toll plaza, which will last until November 2019 and involve the simultaneous closure of one lane in each direction.

The resurfacing works are carried out in a reliable and driver-friendly manner with two lanes in each direction available.

Information about SAM SA

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-km section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway. This is the first fully operational road of this type in Poland, built as part of the public-private partnership, as a brownfield project  on the basis of the road constructed in the 1970s  and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. obtained a license for its adaptation to the requirements of the toll motorway and operation in 1997. It required numerous investments. All investment projects and current maintenance of road lanes are funded from revenues obtained from the collection of tolls for the concession section and loans received from the international banking consortium. Unlike other concessions for the management of toll motorways, the project implemented by Stalexport Autostrada S. A. does not burden the State Treasury with any obligations. Moreover, it has not received any grants or guarantees of the Treasury.
