The concessionaire of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway has launched a new website for drivers A4Info.pl
How to conveniently plan a trip during intensive road works and related changes in traffic flow management? From today (Monday, 22 April this year), drivers will find information about renovations and fortuitous events on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway on the website www.a4info.pl. A graphic representation of temporary traffic flow management locations will make it easier to navigate through diversions or bottlenecks.
Last year, Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. started implementing an investment program resulting directly from the provisions of the concession agreement. Pursuant to them, in 2027, the company is obliged to hand over the motorway to the Ministry of Infrastructure in excellent technical condition, which will allow for the avoidance of renovations and modernisations in the long run. SAM S.A. shall replace the surface of both motorway roads and renovate 22 bridges. It shall also modernise the motorway’s drainage system, introducing solutions that eliminate the impact of pollutants in rainwater on the natural environment. In order to provide drivers with maximum comfort while travelling on the renovated motorway, the concessionaire has prepared a tool that is to be a signpost on how to reach the destination without unnecessary stress, despite changes in traffic flow management.
Surprises on the road? There is a patent for this
On the website www.a4info.pl, users can track the current situation on the motorway on an interactive map, check where and when the works are being carried out, and what changes can be expected in the near future. The tool allows users to easily find out where possible diversions are and where road bottlenecks will occur. The website also provides real-time information about all types of events affecting the situation of drivers – such as accidents or maintenance works [e.g. mowing grass on roadsides and slopes].
– The situation on heavily trafficked roads may change very dynamically. The A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway, with over 45,000 vehicles a day and an intensive investment program in the coming years, certainly belongs to such corridors. We decided to enhance drivers’ knowledge about the road situation beyond the information provided by traditional navigation applications. This will ensure that journeys on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway can be comfortable, as they will have been planned before departure. This is particularly important for drivers who use the A4 occasionally, e.g. during holiday trips – says Andrzej Kaczmarek, President of the Management Board of Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. – The website www.a4info.pl is an intuitive and convenient tool with which drivers will be able to flexibly react to changes that determine the duration, comfort, and safety of travel on our section of the A4 motorway. From now on, we will provide drivers with graphic, accessible information in one place about what is currently happening on the motorway, he adds.
2,750 tons of asphalt per 1 km of road and other interesting facts
The website www.a4info.pl also provides information on why and how Stalexport replaces surfaces and modernises drainage system. It explains in detail, for example, how the renovation is carried out while maintaining two lanes in each direction with one lane closed and how this quite expensive solution, used on the A4 Katowice-Kraków for years, ensures smooth travel and minimises disruptions.
In the “Curiosities” tab, drivers will find, among others, answers to questions they may have while driving along the section being renovated – e.g. why night is not the best time to carry out road works.
In addition to the website www.a4info.pl, the concessionaire also regularly provides information regarding the next stages of work via the website www.autostrada-a4.pl, X platform (@A4KatKra), and Facebook (a4katowicekrakow).
